Rosemary in the Wind
Rosemary in the Wind is one of my most personal songs, written for my late mum, Rosemary, and for all the years of my life she never had the chance to see.
It is about missing someone long after they have gone and wishing you could introduce them to the people who became your world afterwards. My mum never got to meet my wife, Rachael, and I often wonder what she would have thought of the woman I eventually chose to spend my life with. In my heart, I know she would have loved her.
The song also carries another deeply personal hope. It imagines Mum somewhere beyond this life, still watching over us, and asks that if she really can hear me, perhaps she might whisper a prayer on our behalf for the miracle Rachael and I still dream of: a child of our own.
Rosemary in the Wind is about grief that never completely leaves, love that survives death, and the strange comfort of believing that those we have lost might still be walking beside us through the lives they never got to witness.
A song for my mum, for my wife, and for the little miracle we still hope might one day find its way home to us.
