Salt & Coal

Salt & Coal is a personal song about belonging to two places at once.

It tells the story of leaving Guernsey, the island that shaped me, and building a new life in Newcastle upon Tyne, where I arrived as an outsider but gradually found another place to call home.

From Cobo Bay and Petit Bot to the Tyne, Friday-night gigs, Greggs and Geordie banter, the song is about discovering that moving away does not mean abandoning your roots. You can still miss the sea while loving the city that welcomed you.

Salt & Coal is my love letter to Guernsey and Tyneside: one gave me my beginnings, the other gave me a home, and both are now part of who I am.
