The Pebble’s Song

The Pebble’s Song began as a pub bet.

A friend challenged me to write a song about the most boring thing he could think of: a pebble. The challenge was to somehow make it interesting.

So instead of writing about the pebble itself, I started wondering about everywhere it might have been, whose hands may have held it, what lives it had silently passed through, and how many generations could come and go while that tiny stone simply carried on.

The result became a gentle folk song about time, memory, imagination and the strange history hidden inside ordinary things.

And yes, I won the bet.
