We Raised Each Other Up

We Raised Each Other Up is a nostalgic song about the kind of childhood friendships that help shape who you become.

It was inspired by two friends I grew up with, and by all the chaos, freedom and mischief we shared: bunking off school, riding bikes for miles, skating, sneaking into cinemas, making dens, using fake IDs, staying out far too late and somehow believing the whole world belonged to us.

We did not have much, but we had each other, and at that age that felt like enough.

Sadly, within days of the song being released, one of those friends, Steven Eker (1976–2025), passed away. He never got the chance to hear it.

That changed the song forever for me.

What began as a celebration of the friendships that raised us became, almost overnight, a memorial to one of the people who lived those memories beside me.

We Raised Each Other Up is dedicated to Steven, an old friend, a permanent part of my childhood, and someone who will always be stitched into the story of who I became.

Keep raving in the sky, mate. 💔
